Should I contact my Senator?

PJsMom started this conversation
Good afternoon everyone. I was thinking last night, I am late on my water/gas bill, if they turn it off I will lose my government houseing. I thought last night, maybe I should send a letter to my Senator, because I did ask the company if there was any kind of assistance and they said no. 849 bucks doesn't help me much paying 300 rent, electric, water, gas, truck payment, gas and of course as with many I am in deep with TWO check advance places. I think I have paid things late, put off bills and finagled so much until I have reached the point of no return! Usually I am pretty good at finding SOME way to come up with money to get things paid, but I think I have just about sold everything I own that was worth anything and borrowed from all resources. Like I have said before, my eyes have been blown open on how different both sides of the fence are. Two years ago I had no problem paying my bills on time or when I felt like shopping hoping in my nice car and heading out to the mall for a new purse or shoes. I would get my hair done once a month, and my nails......never gave a thought about those who were in bad need. Now, I am one of those in bad need. I feel if I can JUST make ends meet until Feburary it should get better. This will be my last semester of college and I will walk with my Programming degree and January first I get to start working with the networking department at my college, I'll get a few hours a week and get a check every two weeks. That will make a TON of difference, I'm just scared of how I am going to pay all my bills before then.
So anyway, sorry I got off on a ramble, what do you think about me writing my Senator? Will it be a waste of time?
Thanks,
Jennifer

in response to PJsMom...   I agree with you 100%. Things will get better, as long as we all think positive. we don't need a man to take care of us. We are our kids mom and unless the man wants to be there on his own free will, we don't need pitty, if they want to help great but dont go looking for one to take care of u. Would it be nice to have someone to help you of course but look for love and partnership not just for money

in response to kiresten8...   LOL, well that got a chuckle out of me. Ya, that would just ad more problems. Don't get a man, just for financial help, that is not moral, (In my book). I want to try my best to do things on my own. It will get better, I am sure. :)

in response to singinglady...   Hello singinglady my name is jen and I'm in Pennsylvania and there isn't much help here either. I over draft my checking account before and if you talk with the bank they some time will cut it in half for u or take all the fee away. It's a bad situation I feel your pain I had to get on the on track program to lower my electric bill it's now down to $120 a month instead of $200 a month. I think they can't turn your heat off on you til April here in Pennsylvania.

in response to kiresten8...   Hello...Kiresten8...I can't believe that! Get a MAN! LOL! Like that solves ANYTHING! I know what you mean about charities and i don't understand it either. I am Laurie and I read your post and just wanted to be with you in spirit. I have no help to offer for i am also in need at the moment. Which state are you in?

I understand your situation I am in the same boat as you the charities in my area only help the drug addicted or people with drunking problems but not a person on the end with children I guess we have to be totally homeless in living in a car before the charities will help. Which doesn't make sense to me. I even had a woman name mimi21 here send me a message telling me to get a man. I need help not more problems lol

Well I sent the email, no response as of yet. I am not holding my breath on getting a response from them. They sit in their huge mansions, wearing clothes that could pay my gas bill, and honestly you know that is all they care about. If they really cared about "the people" we all would not be in the positions we are in now! I would STILL have my good job and be sitting comfortably!
Ya i'm a lil angry...
